Connection, Contribution and Career Growth: Celebrating Shipt’s 2025 Summer Intern Class

A look back at a summer of learning and impact with our 2025 intern cohort

This summer marked the 6th annual summer internship program at Shipt, and with it, another inspiring season of growth, learning and meaningful connection.

Over the course of the program, nearly two dozen interns representing a dozen colleges and universities joined departments across Shipt — from Engineering and Product to Operations and Marketing, and more — each bringing a fresh perspective to their teams and projects.

“Our 2025 intern class brought new ideas, fresh energy, and a lot of heart to Shipt this summer,” said Lisa Von Feldt, Vice President of Talent Acquisition, People Operations, and Strategy at Shipt. “Working with them was a great reminder of what’s possible when we invest in the next generation of talent, and we’re so grateful for the significant impact they had on the business in such a short period of time.”

Pursuing a Program Built for Growth

Guided by Megan H., a Talent Acquisition Program Manager at Shipt — who was recently recognized by RippleMatch with their Pathfinder award for sourcing and championing intern talent in creative new ways — Shipt’s internship program was intentionally designed around four pillars: Exposure, Development, Involvement and Community.

“The most impactful part of this internship has been my project . . . because the Finance team and Partner Success and Sales team will use it for future decision-making and guidance,” said Camille G., an intern on the Finance Team. “[My] project [was] brought up during a call, and co-workers came up to ask me what it is I’m doing. [It was] cool to have a relevant project as an intern!”

Shipt’s interns worked on a variety of meaningful projects this summer that reflected their creativity and their technical skill. From developing internal tools that improved efficiency to designing data-driven solutions to help enhance the user experience, their work helped advance initiatives that supported both our members and our team.

And the learning didn’t stop there! Interns were paired with buddies and rotating mentors, participated in job shadowing outside of their assigned roles and attended a curated lineup of company-wide learning and development sessions focused on public speaking, career development and building a professional brand.

They also met with Shipt’s leadership team — including our new Chief People & Community Officer, Ricardo Vargas, who kicked off the intern Leadership Coffee Connection Series. When asked what advice he would give to an aspiring professional, he shared: “Listen to your gut. Be curious.”

He also shared a helpful tool he’s used when stepping into new roles — his “First Year Aspirations” list, a personal guide outlining the impact he hopes to make and the actions that will help him get there.

Ricardo shared with the group that having a practice like this earlier in his career would have helped him be more intentional about defining what success looks like. He encouraged them to explore their own ways of thinking about the future, emphasizing that reflection and intentional growth are essential at every stage of a career.

A Summer Spent Sparking Connections

This summer, Shipt’s interns participated in connection-building activities — such as creating a shared summer playlist — while forming tight-knit cohort bonds. Casual coffee chats with cross-functional teams and leadership also gave interns a deeper look into the heart of Shipt, while regular career check-ins supported their individual growth.

“The most impactful part of this internship is the people,” said Makenzie S., an intern on Shipt’s Marketing team. “Coming into an internship is super scary because you could be considered just the intern, but here I actually feel a part of the team.”

At the end-of-summer Intern Showcase, interns reflected on their summer highlights and shared final projects with team members across the company.

“I’ve learned a lot and grown a lot this summer, [and I learned] it's okay to not know,” said Marion O., an Engineering intern at Shipt. “Everyone was really communicative, [and] offered help. I'm really happy that I got to intern at Shipt.”

Looking Ahead to What’s Next

As the summer wraps, many of our interns are returning to campus with new skills, fresh clarity and lasting memories. Wherever they go next, we know they’ll carry forward the relationships they’ve fostered; the lessons they’ve learned; and the values of care, rally, positivity, authenticity and drive that are core to the Shipt experience.
