Same-day delivery marketplace Shipt announced it has launched same-day delivery of beer, wine and spirits to Chicago and the surrounding metro area from Meijer, Fresh Thyme Market, Plum Market, and Target. As customers stayed home during the pandemic, same-day delivery service Shipt saw a 44% increase in baskets with alcohol included. The addition of alcohol adds to the growing selection of groceries, electronics, toys and other household essentials currently available for same-day delivery via Shipt in Chicago.  

“Expanding Shipt’s offerings across Chicago means bringing our customers everything they want and need, including their favorite adult beverage,” said Rina Hurst, chief business strategy officer, Shipt. “From weekly grocery runs to planning virtual happy hours, Shipt helps customers make the most of their time with same-day delivery of all the products they love.”

Chicago area residents can order alcohol products from select retailers in the Shipt app and on Shipt.com. Customers will then schedule their delivery and an expert Shipt Shopper will bring it to their door in as soon as one hour. Customers must be at least 21 years old to order or accept alcohol deliveries, and will be required to present identification upon delivery.

Throughout the last year, more and more consumers have turned to the ease and convenience of same-day delivery. To meet this high demand and ensure reliable same-day delivery, Shipt recently added 150,000 shoppers to the platform during the holiday season.
