Shipt Enhances Customer Personalization with New Dietary Preferences Feature

As the first nationwide grocery delivery service offering a saved feature, Shipt makes it easier to shop for more than 400,000 products that adhere to nearly 20 dietary labels.

Today, Shipt announced the nationwide release of a new dietary preferences feature on its mobile app and website to simplify how customers discover and purchase items that meet their lifestyle and shopping needs. And according to trends -- something The Food Industry Association was already reporting on in 2019 -- this gives people what they want, as most (82 percent) are actively looking for a particular diet or health-related dietary label when shopping. 

When customers log into their Shipt account, they can click on a dietary preferences banner at the top of the home page to save their dietary preferences in their Shipt profile. This enables customers to find products that adhere to the Atkins diet, the Keto diet, the Paleo diet, vegan, vegetarian, and more, at over 100 of Shipt’s grocery partners nationwide. Customers can also select from wellness preferences such as low-sodium, sugar-free and organic. 

“This feature helps customers easily use Shipt while maintaining their lifestyle preferences,” said Karl Varsanyi, Chief Experience & Product Officer at Shipt. “We know that Shipt Shoppers are the gateway to personalization and Shipt’s new dietary preferences feature helps them get to know customers better and make that personalization even stronger.” 

As a customer searches for items, Shipt will boost and tag products that match the dietary preferences saved in a customer’s profile, helping to make the process of building shopping lists fast, easy and accurate. 

After a shopper claims an order, a customer’s dietary preferences are available to them and also served up during product substitution searches, so a shopper can offer a customer the most relevant selections during a shop. By strengthening the shopper-to-customer connection, shoppers can more closely shop for a customer like they would shop for themselves.
