Apply Today: Shipt Now Accepting Community Impact and Innovation Grant Application
Community organizations and nonprofits focused on economic mobility and food security are encouraged to apply for grants up to $25,000
Shipt is thrilled to announce we are now accepting applications for our Community Impact and Innovation Grant program. Since launching in 2022, we have awarded $500,000 in grants to organizations focused on food insecurity, economic disparities, and youth workforce development. Across the country, Shipt’s grants have helped supply nearly 400,000 pounds of healthy foods, served nearly 225,000 food-insecure individuals, engaged 106 small businesses, and supported training and workforce development for 880 learners and workers.
“Shipt believes deeply in promoting meaningful, lasting change in the communities we serve,” said Shipt VP of Economic and Social Impact Khadijah Abdullah. “Through our Community Impact and Innovation Grants Program, community organizations and nonprofits have received access to the tools they need to pioneer high-impact solutions to address barriers to food security and economic mobility. We are proud of the outsized impact our grantees have on their communities and look forward to expanding our mission with even more leaders, innovators, and changemakers.”
We spoke with two of our grantees to hear how the program helped their organizations better serve their communities:
"With the support of partners like Shipt, over 250 Los Angeles residents completed the COOP Careers Fellowship last year—more than any year before. Employer engagement opportunities, such as the open house hosted by Shipt last fall, are key program offerings through which fellows and alumni are introduced to potential employers, learn about career pathways, and expand their professional networks. Participating in meaningful partnerships with companies is a central pillar of our program model and is essential to achieving our mission of overcoming underemployment. We are incredibly grateful for Shipt’s partnership in connecting hundreds of underemployed low-income, first-gen college grads to their first good job after graduation." - Celen Yap, Associate Director of Partnerships, COOP Careers
"Together, Shipt and Food Recovery Network have accomplished multiplicative impact. What do I mean by that? Together, we've accomplished more than we could have alone, and because of our deepening engagement together, our united efforts produced more than just 1+1 = 2. In our shared Shipt and FRN communities, 26 FRN chapters have been supported by the grant. Through our Power Hours, Shipt volunteers collectively identified 87 farms that have surplus fresh produce resulting in more than 452,000 pounds of food being recovered and donated and more than 31 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. With our commitment to continuous learning, Shipt has also engaged FRN to host a lunch and learn for Shipt employees to learn more about the work of FRN and how Shipt is making a difference. This has been an incredible journey thus far and one we are excited to extend.” - Regina Anderson Harmon, Executive Director, Food Recovery Network
Shipt is proud to be in its fourth cycle of the Community Impact and Innovation Grant Program and to continue our investment in organizations working to build healthier, resilient, and more equitable communities. We started this initiative as part of a $5 million, five-year investment to help expand equitable access by increasing the knowledge, skills, job access, and, ultimately, earning potential for all community individuals.
Applications are open now and close on June 14 at 11:59 p.m. PT. If you are interested in applying or know a community organization or nonprofit that should apply, you can learn more and access the application at Shipt.com/Community.
